Environmentalists have long been warning that our contemporary lifestyle is damaging the Earth. More recently I've learned that many of our everyday products are also dangerous to human health and may cause or contribute to cancer.
Among the worst offenders are many household cleaning products that have been 'over-engineered." They often contain chemical ingredients that are (unbeknownst to consumers) recognized by authorities to be harmful to both human health and the environment. While some of these toxic chemicals legitimately improve product effectiveness, they are rarely vital to the performance of the task at hand. If presented with a safer alternative, most people would eliminate or limit their use of dangerous products.
In reality, all you need are just a few mild cleaners to make for a spotless home. Safe cleaners can even be made at home with lemon juice, baking soda, vinegar, borax, salt, olive oil and vegetable soaps. Whatever you choose, remember to keep cleaners out of the reach of children. Even less toxic cleaners can pose a health risk when ingested.
